Carly's Kiss and Tell: Will Men and Women Ever Agree?

Tori and Dean

Last week I was watching one of my favorite reality shows, "Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood" (make fun all you want, but I love this s**t).  The lovey-dovey couple was enjoying a romantic dinner in Vancouver, and discussing how much they enjoyed spending time together.  At one point, Dean commented on the couple's less-than-ideal sex life in the wake of their children's births, and Tori defensively insisted that their sex life was fine (she claimed they have sex 3 times per week).  For Tori, 3 times per week was plenty; for Dean, it was less than ideal.  This TMI conversation between my favorite C-List couple got me thinking...will men and women ever agree in relationships? I suppose it's natural that men and women disagree--biologically we're built differently.  However, it seems there will be never-ending conflicts between the sexes in regards to sex, intimacy, and comittment.  I have experienced many situations like Tori and Dean's; maybe all of you Ology readers will...

What's In a Smell?

chanel_no_5

Published in 1580, Michel de Montaigne’s "Of Smells" is one of the first personal essays ever written. A “great lover of good smells,” Montaigne considers what people should optimally smell like. Some historical records state that such men as Alexander the Great gave off a pleasantly “odoriferous smell, occasioned by some rare and extraordinary constitution.” But Montaigne does not believe them. Accepting that some sweat smells better than others, Montaigne still concludes that the “best and chiefest excellency is to be exempt from smell.” Is he right? To what extent are people driven by smell? If Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight book series is to be believed, a lot. Edward Cullen (a vampire) is first drawn to Bella (a mortal) by her floral scent, and she loves to sniff his cool breath. Although most people do not have the super-senses of the Cullen coven, there is some evidence that odors play an unconscious role in human attraction. Here are some examples. 1. A New...

R-Rated Preview of 'Sex Drive'

From Erik Davis of Cinematical: "For those who want to get a head start on Sex Drive, you'll be happy to know the first ten R-rated minutes of the film have arrived online, courtesy of MySpace. I've heard some pretty good things about Sex Drive from everyone who's seen it, which makes me happy because I'm a huge fan of the teen sex comedy genre. Sure, it's reminiscent of past teen sex comedies -- and when you watch the pretty hilarious opening scene, I'm positive thoughts of American Pie will roll around your head -- but I'm of the opinion that, if done right with a solid cast, then, heck, bring it on. Aren't all teen sex comedies kinda sorta the same at the end of the day? Plot: Teen(s) want to get laid. Go!"
